Which enemy gives the most XP in Sekiro? ›

Ashina Outskirts — Stairway

There are a number of Interior Ministry enemies here you can sneak up on and kill easily for lots of XP, and since it's a bit faster than the previous farm, it's what we'd consider to be the best one in the late game overall.

Gun Fort is a very good one. It's available early(before defeating Genichiro) in the game and gives 1500 XP just for sneak killing a couple of enemies.

Although the Bell Demon doesn't increase experience rewards, having it equipped while farming will allow you to pick up more items at the same time.

Cactus and Bamboo Farms

These are as simple as they come but rack up XP points quickly. Just plant cactus or bamboo and the crops will grow automatically. All you have to do is harvest them with shears or a pickaxe and you'll get XP for each one. Bamboo especially is fantastic for this.

Most noticeably, blocking attacks now causes Sekiro to take chip damage unless he perfectly deflects, and there is a general increase in difficulty, but Exp and Sen rewards from enemies is increased by 20%.

Obey the Iron Code means that you obey your father over Kuro. Iron code leads to a quicker ending. It locks you out of a couple more areas and some really good items. But you essentially skip multiple boss fights as well.

you can grind for skill points and sen. upgrading your vitality+posture and attack power typically requires defeating mini-bosses (prayer beads) and bosses (battle memories).

That might not sound like much, but find an area full of disposable enemies and you can quickly make some decent cash. Ashina Castle and Ashina Reservoir are both great for this. They are both full of enemies that, if you focus, shouldn't give you too much trouble.

The early game is very easy compared to NG, with the late game being slightly harder as enemies do have more health and do more damage than NG.

You lose progress when you die. The bosses' attacks don't make them vulnerable to counter attack so easily after deflection. You have so few healing items. The combination of these factors means you have to be consistently good before your character can be strong enough to be consistently good.
