The unwritten rules of Snapchat (2024)

The unwritten rules of Snapchat

Using Snapchat is so simple. You open a snap, double tap, take a photo, and send it. What many people don’t know is how many unwritten rules there are.

dont double snap. Unless you’re close friends, snapping someone twice in a row without a response especially if they left you on opened, can be really odd. It can make you seem needy or impatient. They probably left you on opened or delivered for a reason so you shouldn’t double snap.

the notification when taking screenshots. If there is someone your very close with, you may send each other silly pictures and screenshot them as a joke but if you screenshot a snap from somebody you don’t know that well you can be seen as creepy, especially if it’s out of context.

the snap ratios. There are three types of snaps. The first is a full face snap. These are the best types of snaps to send or receive because they are the most personal and it means there is comfort between you. The second is a half face or eye pic. These can be when you’re not that close but you still wanna reply to each other or if your just not feeling like you look the best at the moment. I’d say the majority of people send and receive these snaps. Last there is ceiling or wall pics. These are completely boring. If you send or receive these you probably don’t have a good relationship with the person, don’t know them that well, or you can be maybe an argument or something. These are the worst snaps to get. You might as well be left on delivered. Now the rule to this would usually be if you receive a full face to send a full face. You want to match their energy. Where as if you receive a ceiling pick you send one back. Sometimes you have to change the energy, maybe if you want a full face and they’re only sending half face, you can make the transition by sending them a full face.

adding people by search if you don’t know them personally is creepy. Whenever I get added by search I’m really suspicious and uncomfortable if I don’t Know the person. I have been added by people my search twice my age and from different countries, so don’t be that creepy person.

don’t send snaps that you’re going to post on your story anyways. Nobody wants to see them twice and people just get annoyed about it.

Watch your snap score. People snap score say a lot about them. If you’ve had Snapchat for a while and your snap score is still under 100,000 people are gonna think that you don’t have friends or that you’re boring. Where as if you have a snap score over 1,000,000 people will think you’re an f boy or a hoe. So make sure you keep it reasonable.

sending streaks multiple times a day is ANNOYING. To keep streaks you only need to snap the person once a day, and if we don’t talk you don’t need to be sending me streaks five times a day it’s just boring and annoying. Streaks in general if I don’t know you are kind of annoying. Like if we don’t actually talk, I don’t get the point of continuing to snap you every day.

don’t spam public public story. I just find it annoying when I have to click 20 times through someone’s story that I don’t even know. You have a private story for a reason and I think it’s great for this because people have the ability to leave if they want to and people who want to see can.

never ever send or request someone’s location. I don’t even know where those buttons are there. But don’t ever use them. It’s creepy.

if you add someone else, then you have to start the conversation. Don’t be expecting them to start it because ur the one that added them.

open ur snaps ur not famous. Leaving people on delivered is pointless.

make ur Bitmoji look at least something like you. It’s kind of annoying when it’s just nothing like them and people who don’t have a Bitmoji at all are boring and kinda scary.
