Soukaku is an Ice-type Support Agent in Zenless Zone Zero who wields a massive weapon that has the potential to Freeze enemies. With the right build, W-Engine, and team composition, this A-Rank member of Hollow Operations Section 6 can become an excellent fighter who can stop enemies in their tracks, while also providing essential support for her squad.

Support Agents primarily exist in ZZZ to buff your other teammates and help them deal more damage, meaning they're not usually the ones dishing out the finishing blows. Soukaku fills this role well, being able to provide a nice Attack buff to the rest of the squad. But her giant weapon and Ice Damage attacks shouldn't be underestimated, as they can also put up quite a fight in the Hollow.

Best W-Engine For Soukaku In Zenless Zone Zero

Signature Bashful Demon

One of the best W-Engines for Soukaku is Bashful Demon. This is Soukaku's signature W-Engine in Zenless Zone Zero, so it's not surprising that it synergizes so well with her best build. As well as providing a big boost to Soukaku's Attack stat, Bashful Demon also boosts Ice Damage by 15% and increases your entire squad's Attack stat by 2% for 12 seconds after launching an EX Special Attack. This stacks up to four times, so it can be a huge asset to your team.

Of course, there's always going to be an element of personal preference with any character build in ZZZ, so if you're not a fan of the Bashful Demon W-Engine or you're struggling to pull one, there are some other recommendations in the table below:

Slice Of Time is a great way to boost Soukaku's Decibels and Energy, letting her unleash more Ultimates and EX Special Attacks, while [Reverb] Mark III lets Soukaku provide even more support to her teammates. Both of these W-Engines can be purchased from the Gadget Shop on Sixth Street, which makes them fairly accessible if you're struggling to pull Soukaku's signature W-Engine, Bashful Demon, from Banners.

Swing Jazz And Hormone Punk

The best Drive Discs for Soukaku in ZZZ are a 4-Piece Swing Jazz and a 2-Piece Hormone Punk. Swing Jazz fits in nicely with Soukaku's role as a supporter, as it provides a 20% increase to Energy Regen, which lets her access EX Special Attacks faster. It also increases all teammates' Damage by 15% for 12 seconds when you launch a Chain Attack or an Ultimate Attack.

Follow this up with a 2-Piece Hormone Punk for a nice 10% Attack buff. If you'd prefer your Soukaku build to focus on attacking rather than supporting, you can switch these Drive Discs around with a 4-Piece Hormone Punk that provides a 25% boost to her Attack whenever she enters combat or switches in from another character.

Best Team For Soukaku In Zenless Zone Zero

Ice, Ice, Baby

The best teammates for Soukaku are Ellen and Lycaon, forming a triple-threat Ice-type squad that will be difficult to take down. Their shared Ice Attribute will mean everyone's Additional Ability is activated. In Soukaku's case, this means boosting the entire squad's Ice Damage by 20% for 22 seconds when she enters Fly The Flag with full Vortex points.

It's also a good idea to use a Bangboo that deals Ice Damage to synergize with Soukaku's Attribute type. Sharkboo is the top Ice-type Bangboo in Zenless Zone Zero at the moment, planting homing traps to damage enemies and help accumulate Ice Anomaly Buildup. Penguinboo fulfills a similar role and should be easier to unlock as a lower-tier option, although it has slightly lower HP and Attack stats.

How To Play Soukaku

Flying The Flag

As a Support Agent, Soukaku works best when she's doing just that - supporting your teammates. When you hold down the Special Attack button, she will launch Fly The Flag, providing a 10% increase to her Attack for 22 seconds. Immediately after this, you'll have the option to switch a character in via Quick Assist, and the Attack buff will be passed along to them, which is a great boost for Agents who already have a high Attack stat.

Soukaku has a unique mechanic in ZZZ known as Vortex points. These are little blue circles that appear under her name on the top-left corner of the screen. You can earn them by unleashing EX Special Attacks or Chain Attacks. Once you've saved up three Vortex points, launching Fly The Flag will see Soukaku enter the Frosted Banner state, where her Basic Attacks and Dash Attacks will deal massive Ice Damage for 22 seconds. The Attack buff for other Agents will also increase.

With all of this in mind, the best play for Soukaku is to get to three Vortex points as quickly as possible and unleash Fly The Flag to enter the Frosted Banner state. At this point, you can either attack until you've inflicted Freeze on your enemies, or switch to another attack-focused Agent to transfer the Attack buff to them. Soukaku's Ultimate is also very useful in Zenless Zone Zero, as it recovers Energy for your teammates.
