Bloons TD 6: Best Towers For Bosses (2024)

Facing off against bosses is one of the most fun things to do in Bloons Tower Defense 6. The gigantic MOAB-class Bloonarius and Lych, and their respective abilities, provide a unique challenge that only gets harder as the rounds go up, especially in elite mode.

Picking the right towers is crucial, as every monkey dollar counts while the boss' arrival looms. With so many towers and upgrades in the game, it can be hard to know what to choose. Fortunately, this guide will have everything you need to become a boss-beating master and rack up those Lych and Bloonarius medals.

10 Sniper Monkey - Elite Defender

When fighting Bloonarius' early tiers, crowd control is everything. By the later tiers, the towers you're using to damage Bloonarius himself can usually take care of his spawns, but in those first few tiers, picking the most cost-effective way to deal with the grouped bloons is crucial.

The elite defender is a great answer to this, as it specializes in mowing through high quantities of low-level bloons. Support it with an elite sniper to buff it further, and even better, you can use the elite sniper for some cash generation too.

9 Bomb Shooter - Recursive Clusters

While the elite defender is a great option to deal with Bloonarius' spam, arguably an even better choice is that of recursive clusters. For only a few thousand monkey dollars, a 2-0-4 bomb shooter will offer fantastic crowd control.

Three or four of these fantastic towers are enough to entirely clear elite Bloonarius' first tier, so they absolutely should not be overlooked. As one of the most cost-effective ways to handle grouped bloons in the game, the recursive clusters bomb-shooter is a must in countless scenarios.

8 Ninja Monkey - Sticky Bomb

Once you've got your towers to take care of any potential spawns in place, you need to think about how to damage the bosses themselves. Furthermore, in Lych's case, your damage to the boss will also be how you deal with his spawns, since he spawns high-HP MOABs.

For tier one, one of the most cost-effective options is the 1-0-4 ninja monkey. Four of these can take down even elite Bloonarius at tier one, and they're pretty affordable, so it's a great way to save money while still ensuring a first-round victory.

7 Ice Monkey - Super Brittle

Bloons TD 6: Best Towers For Bosses (4)

A key aspect of dealing with bosses, especially in the higher tiers of elite, is how you support your damage dealers. Despite the core concept's iconic status, Bloons is about more than just throwing darts at balloons. For Lych, conventional support like alchemists is off the table, since he'll steal the buffs given to your towers.

While you can't strengthen your towers, you can still weaken the boss. Super Brittle makes everything in its radius take additional damage from all sources, so positioning it well can massively weaken the boss, giving your towers a major advantage.

6 Sniper Monkey - Cripple MOAB

Another entry from the sniper monkey family, cripple MOAB serves the support role even better than Super Brittle, as its range is global. Give it the "Even Faster Firing" crosspath and set it to strong, and it'll target the boss non-stop.

In addition to dealing damage, cripple MOAB causes the targeted MOAB-class balloon to take additional damage from all sources, like a whole-map super brittle. With the aforementioned crosspath, this debuff will have full uptime, making cripple MOAB a must for higher boss tiers.

5 Druid - Avatar of Wrath and Poplusts

Bloons TD 6: Best Towers For Bosses (6)

For tiers two and three, the name of the game is dealing massive damage as quickly as possible. Sticky bombs won't cut it anymore, especially in elite, so you have to turn to other cost-effective damage-dealers, and one of the best options is the avatar or wrath.

Poplusts, and their upgrade the avatar of wrath, buff each other when in close proximity, so an avatar surrounded by five poplusts attacks absurdly fast, dealing huge amounts of damage to the boss while it's in range.

4 Dartling Gunner - M.A.D.

Bloons TD 6: Best Towers For Bosses (7)

The M.A.D., or MOAB Assured Destroyer, is the single best option for tier two of both bosses on regular and elite. You'll have to track the boss with your mouse to keep the M.A.D. on target, but it deals damage at a rate other towers simply can't compete with.

Furthermore, on elite, if you can't afford a paragon by tier three, pairing a M.A.D. with an avatar or wrath setup is a good option, so it can remain versatile. All things considered, the M.A.D. is incredibly cheap for its utility, so it's a must-have when facing off against bosses.

3 Super Monkey - Vengeful True Sun God

Bloons TD 6: Best Towers For Bosses (8)

The vengeful true sun god (VTSG for short) is the highest conventional-damage-dealing tower in the game. Its benefits to boss fights are therefore obvious, and if you've ever watched some Bloons gameplay, you've probably seen it in action. However, creating one is costly and requires a bit of planning, so make good use of the time between boss rounds if you're making one.

Start with a regular super monkey and upgrade it to a sun avatar. Inside the avatar's radius, place 50,000 monkey dollars worth of towers from any three of the four categories (primary, military, magic, and support), then upgrade to a sun temple. Now, place 50k's worth of towers from all four categories inside its radius, get a legend of the night and anti-bloon outside of its radius, and upgrade to a true sun god. There will be an extra sacrifice animation for the other tier five super monkeys, and you'll have yourself a VTSG.

2 Dart Monkey, Boomerang Monkey, Ninja Monkey, and Monkey Buccaneer - Paragons

Bloons TD 6: Best Towers For Bosses (9)

Paragons are special tier six upgrades that, for a very high price, can be formed when you have all three of a tower's tier fives on the map. Paragons also have a degree, which is higher the greater the value you'd put into that tower on the map, and the pops those towers had - the more ninja monkeys you've put down upgraded, and the higher the total pops between them, the higher a ninja paragon's degree will be.

Paragons deal ridiculous amounts of damage to begin with, but they do bonus damage to bosses, and even more bonus damage to elite bosses, so they're a no-brainer. The buccaneer paragon, navarch of the seas, is a particularly good choice for water maps since you can use merchantman farming to raise the money, and your cash-earners work as great sacrifices for a good degree.

1 Banana Farms

Bloons TD 6: Best Towers For Bosses (10)

All of the towers outlined in this list sound very expensive, don't they? If you want to stand a chance of affording them, you'll need to start placing and upgrading banana farms as soon as the game begins (though placing Benjamin first is also viable).

The path that generates the most money is the 4-2-0 banana research facility, but other strategies are can work - central markets work well if you're using the above boat farming strategies. You can also use a village to create a monkeyopolis out of your farms, generating you even more money. Whichever way you want to use your farms, make sure you're using them, because they're essential for bosses.
