Den Burg is the largest village on Texel and the economic and administrative center of the island. Located in the middle of Texel, it has a charming old town center with shops, restaurants, and cafes.

In Den Burg, shopping and dining establishments are concentrated around the Groeneplaats and Binnenburg. You can find a wide range of shops, from small boutiques and specialty stores to larger chains, with the Weverstraat as a popular shopping street full of unique boutiques. Every Monday morning, the Groeneplaats transforms into a lively market where you can buy local products and souvenirs. There is also a large supermarket with ample parking space, and during the summer, many shops are open on Sundays. This shopping hub is complemented by various restaurants, terraces, and cafes scattered in the same area, offering both international and local cuisine for a culinary experience after shopping.

There is more to do in Den Burg than shopping and visiting cafes. Den Burg is home to the only outdoor swimming pool on Texel and also has a cinema. Another prominent attraction is the Hervormde Kerk (Reformed Church), located in the center of the village. The Hervormde Kerk, dating back to the 15th century and situated on the Burgwal, is another significant historical monument. From the church, you have a beautiful view over the village.

From Den Burg, you can embark on a fantastic cycling tour through the most beautiful part of the island. Lastly, the beach is approximately 6 kilometers away from Den Burg.
